This science has been studied in the monasteries of India and Tibet for thousands of years. In fact, we talk about this powerful Energy (shakti). Its home is at the base of the spine in the lower two chakras, often pictured as "coiled" sleeping serpent. So using yogic techniques, we can arise this energy which all are born with. It is the flow of Energy that keeps you going and growing.
All types of yoga aims at the same goal; to set up a loved and aligned relationship between you as an individual with the Universal life force (prana). It is all about his empowering with consciousness expanded beyond an ordinary awareness and perception of things but also above basic abilities. The more conscious we become of our connection to the Universal life force, the higher it rises up our spine.
Don't forget that "yoga" means "union" between individual consciousness to Infinite consciousness.
How Kundalini Yoga works? by the mastery of Energy.
Kundalini Yoga consists in doing postures (Asanas) with special breathing (Pranayama), hand and finger gestures (Mudras), body locks (Bhandas), chanting (Mantras) and meditation, to create specific powerful and amazing results, to bring yourself into this time and place. Also in addition as taught by Yogi Bhajan, there are a lot of kriyas (set of exercises) to experience.
